Nas Releases New Album Titled Nasir Produced By Kanye (Listen Audio)

Last night, Nas unveiled his new Kanye West-produced album Nasir at a listening party in Queens. Now, the record is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal. Listen below. The 7-track effort features Kanye West, Puff Daddy, Tony Williams, The-Dream, 070 Shake, and others.

Opening track “Not For Radio,” featuring Puff Daddy and 070 Shake, appears to sample film composer Basil Poledouris. (He is credited as composer and lyricist on the track.) Poledouris is best known for scoring films like Conan the Barbarian (1982), RoboCop (1987), and more. “Cops Shot the Kid,” featuring Kanye West, samples Richard Pryor and Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story.” “Bonjour” features Tony Williams and samples R.D. Burman’s Indian score from the 1977 film Mukti. “everything” features Kanye and The-Dream. “Adam and Eve” also features The-Dream, as well as Kourosh Yaghmaei’s “Gole Yakh.”

Nasir marks Nas’ first album since 2012’s Life Is Good. Almost two years ago, Nas and DJ Khaled released a song called “Nas Album Done.” Nasir marks the fourth Kanye-produced album to be released in as many weeks. The first was Pusha-T’s Daytona, followed by two of Kanye’s own albums: ye, and a collaborative album with Kid Cudi called Kids See Ghosts. Next week, Teyana Taylor plans to release a Ye-produced record. Read “5 Takeaways From Nas’ New Kanye-Produced Album, Nasir,” on the Pitch.
